GPSintegrated.com system is based on following technologies and systems


1 - GPS : Global Positioning system consist of several satellites in the sky that send GPS signals to the earth which are captured by GPS receiver to calculate its position on the earth. A GPS receiver will require signals from atleast 4 or more satellites to calculate its position accurately. GPS Signals are week and may not reach GPS receiver in many situations.

2 - GPS Tracker device : GPS Tracker device is a complex electronic device that has integrated GSM/GPRS Module, GPS Modules, GSM antenna, GPS antenna, Li-On battery and related accessories.

3 - GSM/GPRS network : we use Airtel GSM/GPRS SIM card and network for transfering GPS data to the GPSintegrated.com server. For this GPS Tracker device logs on to the GPRS network of airtel and make a internet connection to GPSintegrated.com website and transfer data regularly 24 hours a day.

4 - GPSintegrated.com Servers : GPSintegrated.com is hosted on a web server with windows 2003 OS and complete web based vehicle tracking system. It consist of architecture of more then one server.

5 - Data Center Connectivity : GPSintegrated.com web servers are hosted in a internet datacenter in USA. The datacenter provide 100Mbps uplink connectivity to the GPSintegrated.com servers. Without this connectivity the servers cannot be accessed by you.

6 - Map Servers : Maps are served by third-party servers like Google Earth, Google Maps, Multimap, Mappoint etc. GPSintegrated has created web connectivity with these map systems to offer best quality maps.

Above 6 systems have to perform with 100% efficiency for us to offer you 100% effecient system but its not yet possible due to few reasons discused here. Most of the GPS tracking systems that were offered in India failed in providing even basic working efficiency to the customers. GPSintegrated has worked hard to ensure highest efficiency in India by combining best of each technologies at affordable cost.


1 - GPS

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is actually a constellation of 27 Earth-orbiting satellites (24 in operation and three extras in case one fails). The U.S. military developed and implemented this satellite network as a military navigation system, but soon opened it up to everybody else. - A GPS receiver will require signals from 4 or more satellites to calculate its position accurately. In certain situations when GPS receiver doesnot have full skyview, it may not be able to receive signals from 4 satellites and may not be able to calculate its position accurately.

- GPS signals are week and cannot pass thru walls, buildings and sometimes even thru dense clouds. GPS signals cannot be received inside the home, office, garage, covered parking and other covered areas. Skyview is necessary for GPS receivers to receive accurate position.


* GPSintegrated.com GPS Tracker device use Nemerix GPS receiver chip which provide -158dbi signal sensitivity, 20 channel receiver at very low cost and power consumption. Considering a combination of cost, sensitivity and low power consumption it was one of the best chips available to satisfy all our customer requirements. It can receive GPS signals even with very small skyview like near the windows or one side open wall. In Febuary 2007 we plan to launch GPS tracker device with latest UBlox 32 channel receiver with highest sensitivity and best performance.

In case no GPS signals is received by the device, it informs the server with No GPS message which is prominently displayed in the dashboard so that customers can learn about it. No GPS signals is not considered as breakdown in service unless it is related ot the GPS tracker hardware. 2 - GPS Tracker device


- GPS Tracker device is a complex electronics device consisting of more then 10 electronic sub systems into a compact size evne smaller then a mobilephone. It is possible the one of the electronic-sub system may stop working.

- GPS tracker is used in Vehicle where it might receive constant vibrations and jerks. If it is not installed properly or in certain situations its one or more electronics sub-systems may develop problem.


* GPSintegrated.com GPS Tracker device has been made very compact and handy device. It is easy to install it anywhere in the vehicle or carry it in the pocket.  Most other GPS tracking systems have serveral wires and antennas which require complex installation and in case any wire is damaged, it will stop the complete system from working. our GPS tracker has 80% less chance of getting damaged compared to most other GPS tracking devices available in the market.

3 - GSM/GPRS network

- We currently use Airtel GSM/GPRS network in all our vehicle tracking device in India. Airtel is known as No. 1 GSM/GPRS operator in India with operations in all cellular circles in India. Based on this network we offer single price everywhere in India, No roaming charges and best connectivity. We buy Airtel SIM card and insert inside GPS tracker device and do various settings.

- In order to offer live tracking vehicle tracking device is required to have  continuous connectivity to GPSintegrated.com website using GPRS connection thru Airtel network. In certain conditions (like congestion) or regions Airtel networks may not continuous connectivity on GPRS.

- GPRS connectivity is offered by Airtel and after lot of testing and analysis we have selected Airtel networks. But we are limited by the availability and reliability of the Airtel GPRS network and totally dependent on Airtel for this. We expect that our customer do not consider us responsible for problems in GPRS connectivity.


Firstly, In case of problems in GPRS connectivity , we prominently display the same in our dashboard so that customers can learn about it.

Secondly, Loss of GPRS connectivity doenot means that tracking data is lost. Our GPS Tracker device has internal memory to store GPS data in case GPRS service is not available and can resend the saved data automatically when the GPRS connectivity is again available. Hence you will normally not loose the data but if you are doing live tracking on Google earth , they you might observe that no updated may happen for few minutes till GPRS connection is not available.

Overall we have observed that GPRS connectivity from Airtel is better then our customer requirements and they do not have any problems or complaints against it. It doesnot in anyway significantly reduce efficiency of our system.



4 - GPSintegrated.com Servers


- GPSintegrated.com servers specifications are:

Intel Pentium D Dual-core 3.4Ghz, 800Mhz FSB, 2x2MB L2 Cache, 2GB DDR RAM, 160GB SATA HDD, 1500GB Transfer, 100Mbps uplink, Windows 2003 server OS

- We also have backup servers and power management. But servers require regular maintainance, reboot and upgrades which can lead to unavailability of the service at certain time every month.

- Any issues like Virus, Windows 2003 server OS issues etc. can also lead to unavailability of the service

- Crash of server hardware or OS can also happen


We normally do maintainance and upgrades late night and at times when the least numbers of customers are logged in.




5 - Data Center Connectivity


- GPSintegrated.com servers are hosted in USA Data center with 100MBps uplink connectivity, Power backup and environment control.

- In case data center has internet connectivity problems, then GPS Tracker device will not be able to connect to the server and send data. Though they will backup the data in internal memory to be transmitted later when server is up.


6 - Map Servers

- It is possible that when you intend to see your vehicle route on the map the Map Server may be down due to some reasons.  Map servers are run by large international corporates like Google, Microsoft but still may have downtime.

Question:

I have observed that sometimes device (GPST) takes more than 10 mins to function normally (i.e, GPS LED starts blinking after 10 to 14 mins)

Today it took 12 mins to actually start sending the logs for my DEvice.

Ans: Many times GPST device functionality depends on weather condition. When moving, the sensitivity of cold start will be lower and the weather and environment condition become critical due to which it might be possible that logs can reach to server more lately
